This Privacy Policy explains how SmartAddress, Inc. ("SmartAddress," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and retains information when you use the Food Recalls website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). The Services provide recall-related information and related features for recalls published by agencies in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the European Union, Australia, and New Zealand.
This policy applies to both our public website and our iOS and Android mobile applications. Some features are only available in the mobile apps. In particular, users cannot create accounts on the public website, and paid subscriptions are only offered through the mobile apps.
By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We collect information in the following categories:
Information you provide directly.
If you contact us, request support, subscribe through a mobile app, participate in a survey, or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect information such as your name, email address, the contents of your message, and any information you choose to provide.
Account-related information.
The public website does not allow users to create accounts. Our mobile apps currently support user accounts, and we may collect account credentials, profile details, authentication identifiers, and information needed to create, maintain, and secure those accounts.
Subscription and transaction information.
Paid subscriptions are offered only through our iOS and Android apps. When you purchase or restore a subscription, we may receive information needed to validate and manage your subscription status, such as product identifiers, purchase tokens, subscription status, renewal dates, country, and app store receipt information. We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple or Google.
Information collected automatically.
When you use the Services, we may automatically collect technical and usage information, including IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device type, operating system, browser type, app version, language, pages or screens viewed, interactions, crash information, referral URLs, and timestamps.
Cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies.
We may use cookies, local storage, pixels, software development kits, and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember preferences, understand usage, measure performance, and improve the Services.
We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the Services, measure performance, improve stability, and evaluate feature usage. These tools may collect information such as device identifiers, app instance identifiers, IP address, usage events, browser or device metadata, and interactions with pages or screens.
Analytics providers may use cookies or similar technologies to collect and process information under their own terms and policies. You can control some analytics-related collection through your browser settings, device settings, cookie controls, or platform privacy settings, depending on the Service you use and your device.
We do not currently serve third-party advertising in the Services, and we do not currently use Google AdMob to deliver ads to users. If that changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before the change takes effect.
We may use information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, app stores, and services that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
The Services also include content sourced from government and regulatory agencies in multiple countries and regions, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA/FSIS), the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the U.K. Food Standards Agency (FSA), the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), the European Commission's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), and New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). That source content remains subject to the applicable source website terms, notices, and privacy policies.
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain subscription records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations, and protect against fraud and abuse. Retention periods may vary based on the type of data and the legal or operational need to keep it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or information about the personal information we hold about you. You may also have the right to object to certain processing or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You may also control certain data practices by:
If you want to exercise a privacy right, request deletion, or ask a question about your data, contact us at contact@usfoodrecalls.com. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
We aim to respond to verified privacy and deletion requests within 30 days, although in some cases we may require additional time where permitted by law.
Because the public website does not provide user accounts, there is no website account to delete. Users of our mobile apps may request account deletion by contacting us at contact@usfoodrecalls.com. Deleting an account may not automatically cancel an active subscription, which must be managed through the applicable app store.
When you request account or data deletion, we will delete or de-identify information we are not required to keep, subject to technical, legal, fraud-prevention, security, accounting, tax, and recordkeeping requirements. For example, we may retain limited records relating to subscriptions, transactions, legal obligations, dispute resolution, enforcement of our agreements, and system backups for as long as reasonably necessary.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to investigate and, where appropriate, delete the information.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may process and store information in the United States and other locations where we or our service providers operate. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date below. Your continued use of the Services after the updated policy becomes effective means the updated policy applies going forward.
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, contact us at contact@usfoodrecalls.com.
