87 people sick & 9 hospitalized across 4 provinces as part of a Salmonella outbreak to date. Various brands of Salami and Cacciatore recalled. Affected products were sold at grocery stores, specialty markets, restaurants, cafes, delis, and butcher shops in 6 provinces. Do not consume, serve, use, sell or distribute recalled products or any product made with them. Investigation ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream and producing more severe illness such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
