Who's At Risk?
Young children, older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and individuals with underlying health conditions or dehydration risk may experience more severe illness. Most healthy adults recover fully.
Symptoms
May cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and stomach cramps, usually within 30 minutes to a few hours after consuming contaminated shellfish. Illness is generally short-term but may lead to dehydration in severe cases.
