Who's At Risk?
Infants and young children, pregnant women, and individuals with diets high in contaminated foods or environmental exposure. People with kidney disease, nutritional deficiencies such as low iron, or long-term occupational exposure may be more vulnerable to toxic effects. Repeated exposure over time may increase the risk of kidney, bone, and other health problems.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, and muscle aches after significant exposure. Longer-term or repeated exposure may affect the kidneys, lungs, bones, and cardiovascular system. Severe exposure can lead to breathing difficulties, kidney damage, or other serious health complications.
