Who's At Risk?
Young children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe illness. Healthy adults may experience milder symptoms but can still become ill.
Symptoms
Exposure to microbiological contamination may cause diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. In severe cases, infection can spread beyond the intestines and lead to bloodstream infections or other serious complications.
