162 people sick & 54 hospitalized across 25 states to date. Lab tests show that these cucumbers may be linked to the multi-state Salmonella outbreak. Products were grown in Florida and sold in bulk cartons from May 17 through May 21, 2024, directly to retail distribution centers, wholesalers, and food service distributors in 14 states. Products may have also been re-packaged for retail stores and sold in additional states. Investigation ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Salmonella mainly impacts young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill after exposure to Salmonella.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream and producing more severe illness such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
