68 people sick & 18 hospitalized across 19 states as part of a multistate outbreak linked to the cucumber supplier to date. Recalled cucumbers were sold between October 12 - November 26, 2024. Products were sold at retail stores in 18 states and Canada.
Who's At Risk?
Salmonella mainly impacts young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill after exposure to Salmonella.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream and producing more severe illness such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
