Multiple cats were reported sick and euthanized in Oregon to date. Previous recall is now expanded to include lot codes #22660, #22653, #22641, #22639, #22672 and #22664 with a Best Buy date of 12/25. Affected products are sold in 2 states. Pet owners nationwide are cautioned about the risks of raw pet food in the wake of this outbreak.
Who's At Risk?
Any pet that consumes the products. Humans can also become infected if the virus enters their eyes, nose or mouth — such as by handling contaminated pet food or touching contaminated surfaces.
Symptoms
Pets with highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI or H5N1) infections may have a fever, lethargy, low appetite, reddened or inflamed eyes, discharge from the eyes and nose, difficulty breathing, and neurological signs like tremors, seizure, incoordination, or blindness.
