Young children, elderly adults, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of developing serious complications from consuming contaminated products.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the contamination could lead to more severe illnesses such as bloodstream infections, arterial infections (e.g., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, or arthritis.
