95 people sick & 18 hospitalized across 14 states to date. Affected brown eggs are sold under 4 brands. Products were sold at retail stores and distributed to food service locations in 2 states and possibly more. Do not eat, sell, or serve recalled products. Investigation ongoing
Who's At Risk?
Salmonella mainly impacts young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill after exposure to Salmonella.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream and producing more severe illness such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
