Salmonella & Listeria
Severity
1 pet was reported sick and 1 child (exposed to the sick dog) has been hospitalized to date. Recall expanded to include 2 additional lots of raw dog food products (beef recipe), packaged in frozen 2 lb white and clear plastic packages. Affected products were sold online through a subscription service. Do not feed recalled products. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Pets consuming the products and humans - especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.
Symptoms
Pets with Salmonella and Listeria infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain.
