Multiple pets have been reported sick to date. This update now includes 180+ lots after additional Listeria-positive findings in dog food samples. Affected products were sold frozen in brown cardboard boxes (5–20 tubes per box). Products were sold online for local pickup in 9 states.
Who's At Risk?
Pets that consume the products and humans, especially those who do not thoroughly wash their hands after handling the products or contaminated surfaces, may be at risk. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can act as carriers and spread infection to other animals or people.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, headache, muscle aches, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (sometimes bloody). Severe cases can lead to bloodstream infection, convulsions, kidney failure (HUS), neurologic complications, miscarriage, or death. Pets may show vomiting, diarrhea, fever, lethargy, or may have no symptoms but still spread infection.
