Salmonella Outbreak
Severity
18 people sick and 7 hospitalized across 14 states to date. This is a new outbreak, and the investigation is separate from previous outbreaks linked to moringa powder. 2 lots of moringa capsules are linked. Affected products were sold online through Amazon, eBay, and mogomoringa.com. Do not consume, sell, or distribute recalled products. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Salmonella mainly impacts young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill after exposure to Salmonella.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. Illness usually occurs within 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. In rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream resulting in severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
