E. coli Outbreak
Severity
12 people sick and 4 hospitalized across 2 states to date. 4 frozen berry products are linked to the outbreak. Previous recall is now expanded to include all lots. Affected products were sold at Publix stores in 8 states. Do not eat, sell, or serve the recalled products. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Children under 5 years old, older adults, and persons with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms
Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. Some infections can cause severe bloody diarrhea and lead to life-threatening conditions such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), chronic kidney disease, or neurologic problems.
