345 people sick and 36 hospitalized across 27 states to date. Previous recall now expanded to 20 additional Taylor Farms branded and unbranded products containing recalled jalapeños. The company has stopped sourcing from the implicated grower. Affected products were sold at Walmart, Target, Kroger, Whole Foods, Hannaford, Stop & Shop, Trader Joe’s, and other retailers across 26 states. Do not eat, sell, or serve affected products. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Salmonella mainly impacts young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill after exposure to Salmonella.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. Illness usually occurs within 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. In rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream resulting in severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
