Salmonella Outbreak
Severity
345 people sick and 36 hospitalized across 27 states to date. This update includes 4 additional affected lot codes due to diced jalapeños used in the dressing being linked to the ongoing multistate outbreak. Products were sold at H-E-B stores in 1 state between July 13–August 5, 2026. Do not eat, sell, or serve affected products. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Salmonella mainly impacts young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill after exposure to Salmonella.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. Illness usually occurs within 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. In rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream resulting in severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
