55 people sick and 4 hospitalized across 15 states to date. 3 alfalfa sprout products sold under the Calco and Everything Sprouts brands are linked to the outbreak. The true number of sick people may be higher than reported. Affected products were sold through wholesale distributors and grocery stores in 2 states between May 27 and August 21, 2026. Do not eat, serve, or sell recalled products. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Young children (especially those under 5), older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe illness.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include severe stomach cramps or abdominal pain, diarrhea (which may be bloody), fever, nausea, and vomiting. In severe cases, infections can cause bloodstream infections, arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, or life-threatening kidney complications such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), as well as high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, and neurologic problems.
