9 kittens were reported sick to date. 6 products were recalled due to low levels of potassium, copper, folic acid, choline and/or pyridoxine (vitamin B6). Affected products are packaged in multiple sizes of stand-up resealable bags and 12 oz jars. Products were sold online and in retail pet stores nationwide.
Who's At Risk?
Kittens, especially neonates. Due to the rapid growth of young kittens, clinical signs may appear within days to a few weeks, and the deficiencies can be fatal or cause permanent organ damage if not recognized in time.
Symptoms
Kittens may develop anemia, neurological dysfunction, liver failure, kidney damage, skeletal disease, cardiac compromise, GI issues, and bone development problems.
