E. coli Outbreak
Severity
17 people sick and 6 hospitalized across 2 states to date. A total of 5 products are linked to the outbreak. Affected products were sold at select Walmart stores across 27 states and at Publix stores in 8 states (see the timeline). Recalled frozen blueberries have Best By dates through 2028. If you have recalled blueberries or berry mixes in your home, throw them out or return them to the store. Outbreak declared over.
Who's At Risk?
Children under 5 years old, older adults, and persons with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms
Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. Some infections can cause severe bloody diarrhea and lead to life-threatening conditions such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), chronic kidney disease, or neurologic problems.
