E. coli Outbreak
Severity
17 people sick and 6 hospitalized across 2 states to date. Recall expanded to include 2 additional products and new lots for an existing product, bringing the total to 7 products (see the timeline). Products were sold at select Walmart and Trader Joe’s stores in 34 states. Do not eat, sell, or serve the recalled products. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Children under 5 years old, older adults, and persons with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms
Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. Some infections can cause severe bloody diarrhea and lead to life-threatening conditions such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), chronic kidney disease, or neurologic problems.
