Who's At Risk?
Children, the elderly, and immunosuppressed individuals may develop hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a severe illness which may cause the kidneys to fail.
Symptoms
Acute, often bloody diarrheal illness and abdominal cramps. Most people recover within a week.
