Severity
Multistate outbreak of hepatitis A in the US and Canada potentially linked to fresh organic strawberries. Products sold at Aldi, HEB, Kroger, Safeway, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Walmart, Weis Markets, WinCo through March 5 - April 25, 2022. Currently, these imported fresh organic strawberries are past shelf life and are not available for purchase in stores.
Who's At Risk?
All people are susceptible to hepatitis A infection. However, individuals who have had hepatitis A before or who have been vaccinated are immune to hepatitis A infection.
Symptoms
Symptoms of all types of hepatitis, including non-viral hepatitis, are similar and can include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, clay or gray-colored bowel movements, joint pain, yellow eyes, and jaundice.
