No illnesses have been reported yet. About 7,000 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli are recalled. Products were shipped to distributor locations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan.
Who's At Risk?
Children under 5 years old, older adults and persons with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms
Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea (often bloody). Some may develop a more severe infection - Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure marked by easy bruising, pallor, and decreased urine output. The condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.
