34 people reported sick & 2 dead across 13 states to date. This update expands the previous recall to 71 additional deli meat products totaling 7 million pounds. These products have “sell by” dates ranging from 29-JUL-2024 through 17-OCT-24. Affected products are sold at various retail deli stores nationwide.
Who's At Risk?
Pregnant women, young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. This is because Listeria is more likely to spread beyond their gut to other parts of their body, resulting in a severe condition known as invasive listeriosis.
Symptoms
Listeria infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery, or life-threatening infection of the newborn in pregnant women. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
