E. coli Outbreak
Severity
9 people have been reported sick in 1 state, with illness onset dates ranging from March 27 to April 30, 2026. Beef kofta products bearing establishment number “EST. 18743” are linked to an E. coli outbreak. Products were sold at The Kebab Shop restaurant locations in 3 states starting January 6, 2026. Consumers should discard any leftover beef kofta from The Kebab Shop. Investigation is ongoing.
Who's At Risk?
Children under 5 years old, older adults, and persons with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms
Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. Some infections can cause severe bloody diarrhea and lead to life-threatening conditions such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), chronic kidney disease, or neurologic problems.
